Delete your account
Applies to the HSK University app and website · Last updated: 5 August 2026
You can delete your HSK University account and everything attached to it at any time, from inside the app or the website. You do not need to ask us first, and you do not need a reason.
Deleting your account is permanent. Your lessons, streak, exam results and posts cannot be restored afterwards, so consider exporting your data first — the same screen offers a one-tap JSON export.
Delete it yourself in the app
- Open the HSK University app and make sure you are signed in.
- Go to the Profile tab, then Settings.
- Tap Account (or Data & Privacy).
- Tap Delete account under the Danger Zone.
- Confirm when asked. Your account is deleted straight away.
Delete it yourself on the website
- Sign in at hskuniversity.com.
- Go to Settings → Data & Storage.
- Under Danger Zone, choose Delete Account & Data.
- Type DELETE to confirm.
Or ask us to do it
If you cannot sign in — for example you have lost access to your email address — write to support@hskuniversity.com from the address on the account, or tell us the email address and username you used. We will verify that the account is yours and delete it within 30 days, usually much sooner.
What gets deleted
Deleting your account removes:
| Data | What happens |
|---|---|
| Account data | Your sign-in record, email address, display name, username and profile photo are deleted. |
| Learning data | Lesson progress, study history, streak, flashcard reviews, mock-exam attempts and results are deleted. |
| Community content | Your posts, comments, direct messages, friend connections and uploaded images are deleted. |
| AI interaction data | Your AI chat and tutor conversation history is deleted. |
| Subscription record | Your plan and status are deleted from our systems. If you have an active paid subscription, cancel it before deleting the account, or contact us — deleting the account does not by itself stop billing at the payment provider. |
What we keep, and for how long
A small amount of information survives account deletion, because we are legally required to keep it or because it is no longer linked to you:
- Payment and invoice records — retained by our payment provider and by us for up to 7 years, as tax and accounting law requires. These records contain a transaction identifier and the amount, not your learning data.
- Anonymised and aggregated statistics — for example the total number of exams taken across all users. This cannot be traced back to you and is kept indefinitely.
- Abuse and moderation records — if an account was reported or actioned for breaking our Terms, we keep a minimal record for up to 12 months so the same abuse cannot simply be repeated with a new account.
- Backups — deleted data can persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before those backups roll over, after which it is gone.
Deleting some data without closing your account
You can remove individual posts, comments and messages yourself at any time, and you can remove your profile photo from Settings. If you want a broader deletion but wish to keep your account, email support@hskuniversity.com and tell us what you would like removed.
